Plaza de España is the most important surviving monument of the Ibero-American Exhibition held in Seville in 1929.
The exhibition transformed the southern part of the city and helped create a new monumental image of modern Seville.

Plaza de España was conceived as the great Spanish pavilion and the principal ceremonial setting of the exhibition.
