Activities for students related to pottery in Seville

Discover the richness of traditional pottery in Seville through our school tours designed especially for deepening students inside the pottery world and history.

The ceramist tradition of Triana, one of the most emblematic neighborhoods in Seville, or the essential role of the Monasterio of la Cartuja in this art, take back to centuries ago and they have made a permanent mark in the culture and the local art.

What plans do we offer?

These are the programs we offer to you:

• General guided tour through Triana or the Monasterio of La Cartuja with some little practice with paper.
• Pottery Museum of Triana, tour on Triana + practice on paper.
• Superplan with a tour around the Centre of pottery, a walk around Triana and a pottery practice in a real Triana workshop with pieces that you could bring back home.
• Hands-on workshops in the school center about mosaics or Islamic pottery taught by a female archaeologist instructor.

In Triana, the students will have the opportunity to see a great variety of pottery arts in the streets, to visit the Center of Pottery of Triana and to even do some practice in pottery workshops, where the pottery is still created in antique ways.

They will be able to observe at first hand how the artisans shape and decorate unique pieces, and they will learn about the history and the evolution of this art that has been an integral part of the identity of Seville.

You could also make a tour around the Monastery of La Cartuja, a place with a rich past linked to pottery. This monastery was a crockery plant in the 19th century, but now it is where the Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art (Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo) is located.

Students will be able to know the history of this emblematic place and its transformation over the years, understanding how it has influenced in the development of pottery in the region.

Plaza de España could be a Good scenary as well to discover and to look up close authentic pottery of Seville in an unique architectonic space. In addition, it allows the entry to splendid spaces to practice outdoors and to discover new aspects of the history of Seville.

Our school visits are designed to be educative and dynamic, offering a practical and wealthy experience. Through interactive activities and workshops, the young students could learn not only about the pottery technique, but also about the cultural and historic value of this tradition to Seville. They could even make their own pottery arts.
